Earthquakes come without any warning, and so, they can be really disastrous for your and your family especially if you’re indoors when it happens. But if you’re outdoors when it strikes, here are the things that your should and shouldn’t do.

Don’t Panic

When an earthquake strikes, you don’t need to panic even if you’re inside a closed building. You can easily make your way out safely if you think and act calmly. If you’re already out, you can just move yourself away from the surrounding buildings and poles that are prone to falling. Being outside can help you stay safe from any type of flying debris and dangerous things like broken window glass and so on.

Stay Out

If you’re outside during an earthquake, you need to do nothing, just move away fro the buildings around you can take yourself to a wide open area. After the earthquake, don’t try to rush into the buildings like your house. That is because some parts of the buildings are often compromised during an earthquake, and they can fall if your make any disturbance. The aftershocks of the earthquake can also help the loosened windows and damaged walls to fall off.

Don’t Drive

If you’re driving and suddenly you feel the earth moving, you should stop driving, but stay inside the vehicle for safety reasons. Before stopping, make sure that there are no trees or electrical wires nearby. After the earthquake, try to avoid the parks of the road that appear damaged.

Keep Your Calm

If you happen to be caught by the debris during an earthquake, then the only thing you should do is to remin calm to increase your chances of being found. No matter how frightening the darkness might get, but shouldn’t try to light up the match, as this can cause the leaking fuel or gas to burst into fire. So, use your wilderness survival skills and outlast any natural disaster.
